1. What this page covers
iStockVisual.com uses cookies and similar storage so the live site can function: sign-in, Pro vs free downloads, and a few on-device preferences. How we handle personal data more broadly is in the Privacy Policy.
2. Essential cookies
When you create an account or sign in, our authentication system (Better Auth) sets session cookies. These cookies are necessary to recognize you, protect the account, and apply 512 / 1K versus 2K / 4K / 8K access. Without them, signed-in features cannot work.
We do not currently set advertising, social-media pixel, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use cookies to sell a profile of you to third parties. Google Fonts, if loaded, may set cookies according to Google’s own policies when your browser requests those styles.
3. Local and session storage
- Theme. Light or dark appearance is stored in local storage as
istockvisual-theme. It never leaves your browser. - Visual search. A query-photo reference may be kept in session storage so the search page can finish loading. If a photo is uploaded, it is stored on our side for about one hour and then deleted.
- Studio tools. Convert, vectorize, social resize, watermark, palette, and the image editor may hold working images in memory or temporary browser storage for that tab. Closing the tab discards them. They are not sent to iStockVisual.
4. Browser tools
The public studio at /tools/image, /tools/convert, /tools/vectorize, /tools/social, /tools/watermark, and /tools/palette processes files in your browser. They do not upload those files and they do not set extra analytics cookies for that processing.
5. How long they last
Session cookies last while you are signed in or until they expire or you sign out. Local-storage theme preference remains until you clear site data or change the theme. You can delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings; if you remove session cookies you will need to sign in again to use Pro sizes.
6. Your choices
Essential cookies are required for accounts. You can use the public library without an account and still download free 512 and 1K sizes. Blocking all cookies may break sign-in, plan-aware downloads, and some forms.
